To meet Melbourne’s growing railway patronage, Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) pledged to extend the service life of the COMENG fleet through the completion of the COMENG Life Extension (CLE) Project.

SCG has supported MTM throughout Stage 2 and Stage 3 of the project, delivering the following work packages:

Through supplying Project Engineering capabilities to MTM, SCG has successfully delivered the following to support the success of the CLE project:

•Modification Tracking across 136 Trains
•Issue and Risk Management across all areas of the project including Safety, Suppliers, Materials, Quality, Labour and Resources
•Conducting and participating in Risk Assessments
•Management of the project schedule including delay recovery strategies, acceleration of task times and supplier coordination
•Management of Non-Conformances
•Budget tracking and forecasting for project activities
•Stakeholder management of internal and external parties

◘ Production Co-ordination 
•Management of multiple packages of work completed by individual contractors
•Train scheduling, delivery and movements within the rail site
•Scheduling of rework activities
•Critical path analysis of production plans across multiple work packages

◘ Scope and Quality Management
•Management and approval of variation activities arising on-train
•Inbound & Outbound Checks and inspections to ensure adherence to the scope
•Signing of the Certificate of Conformance
•Issue of Non-Conformance Reports to suppliers

◘ Engineering Support
•Creation and update of Work Instructions
•Creation and update of Technical Drawings
•Development and publishing of Inspection and Test Plans
•Publishing Engineering Reports including First Article Inspections, Supplier Audits and Memorandums
•Engineering Change Management through trial and permanent changes
•Fault finding and support to technical teams
•Root Cause Analysis of train systems
